Lower Marsh Creek Women's Guild
The Women's Guild meets every third Tuesday of the month in Fellowship hall at 1:00pm. The main objective of the Guild is outreach. To achieve this goal we do the following things:
Visit Hillside Nursing Home to play Bingo with the residents or host seasonal parties and sing-a-longs the first Wednesday of each month.
Sponsor "Teen Angels", a program to "adopt" 2 teens (or more) who are in protective custody with Adams County Youth Services and treat them to an unforgettable Christmas.
Work year round to create beautiful cards to be sold at our annual Christmas Bazaar in December to raise money to be able to assist the church in it's many endeavors. We have contributed to the purchase of a church van, bought an electric stove, a new hot water heater, helped a church member finance medical bills and purchased a defibulator for the Fellowship hall.
Host the June Coffee Hour to honor high school and college gradutes.
Place flowers in the sanctuary to honor Mothers on Mother's day.
Host fashion shows at various local retailers for church women and their guests.
Have a wonderful Christmas party at a local restaurant and invite all church women to attend.
Believe that fellowship, fun, and food can help unite women in faith.
Officers:Roz Santay - President, Laurel Woods - Vice President, Annette Bennett - Secretary, Virginia Woods - Treasurer
CURRENT EVENTS:
Our next regularly scheduled meeting is August 16th at 1:00 pm in Fellowship
Hall.
All women are invited. Join us for fellowship filled with fun.
Women's Retreat
- There has been discussion the past few months about conducting an LMC Women's
Retreat. At this time
a 24 hour retreat at a comfortable retreat center in the Fall is being
considered. Cost for overnight lodging, 3 meals, and a
speaker would be approximately $80 per person. There is a sign up sheet in the
Narthex for ladies interested in attending.
The Women's Guild hosted the coffee hour on June 5th along with the Spiritual Life Team to celebrate Pentecost and to honor 6 graduates; four from high school, one with a Masters in Nursing and still another with a teaching certification. Because of this celebration, we did not have a meeting in June. We will not have a meeting in July either because we will be visiting a large, beautiful garden in Greencastle noted for its Canna (tall flowers that come from bulbs). The trip is scheduled for July 28th. If we have available seats on the van, we will let the congregation know. Look for a definite time in the bulletin.
In conjunction with
Christmas in July, The Women's Guild will
sponsor "Operation Thank You." We will be filling
boxes to send to our troops and sincerely hope you will join us in our efforts.
If you want to contribute money to the
project instead of filling a box, the guild will be taking a collection on July
3rd. The money will be used to help ship
the boxes. Us Postal Service boxes will be distributed with a list of wanted
gift items included on July 10th. All you
have to do is fill the box and put a list of your items on the outside of the
box to fulfill custom requirements. Then,
place the box in the basket in the narthex on July 31st. We will send the box
for you. You may include your name
and address in the box if you so desire.
The Women's Guild thanks you for caring and
sharing with our troops!
Bazaar
- Join us on Mondays in the Fellowship Hall (July 25, Aug 1, 8,
15, 22, 29, Sept 5, 12, 19, 26) at
1:00 pm. Please come and join the fun. WE NEED IDEAS!
LMC 2010 Bazaar income total was $2185.40. Thank you for all your help. Ginny & Roz
Please note: The dedicated women of Guild are working on crafts for the bazaar and are offering custom designed floral prints, American Eagles and sports team's bulletin boards for people to order. We have the following teams available: Cowboys, Steelers, Ravens, Patriots, Eagles, Penn State and Duke. We are open to suggestions for other teams (baseball?). Come see the examples in the Fellowship Hall. A real bargain for $10. Also, check out the desk in Fellowship Hall for other craft goodies.
