Resources & Facilities Future Planning Team

The team held a special meeting in June. The main purpose of this meeting was to hear a proposal for the
managing of the future planning funds from our very own investment advisor, John McMann. John's presentation
was highly informative especially for some of us junior investors!
It was very evident that John had spent a great deal of time preparing his presentation. He defined the
many terms commonly used in the investment world such as money manager, diversification, risk, inflation and
deflation, expansion vs. contraction, fixed income investments and regression analysis. He described the various
investments available including mutual funds, balanced funds and floating rate preferred stocks. He explained the
pros and cons of each one and the level of risk involved. He then proceeded to present the team with recommended
plan elements and a sample investment distribution.
He has given the team a great deal to consider! John has agreed to work with a sub-team, to be decided at
the July meeting, investing the Building Fund monies received to date and in the future. The team wants to be
good stewards of the funds you entrust to us for future planning. We do not wish to take any unnecessary risk but
we also do not want to squander the funds and not have them grow. We have already given John the authority to
move the remainder of the Future Planning money market fund to a Treasury Inflation Protected Security
Fund which has been giving us a much better return.
I want to publicly thank John for his informative presentation and all of his hard work and research. There
are many facets to "Preparing the Way" for LMC's future. Pray with us as we make decisions as the stewards of
the gifts you have given us to do God's work.

Until next month, In His Service, Denise E. Lockwood
