LENT begins with Ash Wednesday, February 17th!
Lent is a season of preparation for the celebration of Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the Saturday before Easter. Lent lasts 40 days, not counting Sundays. In our busy, secular world, Lent is a time of renewal, a time to remember Jesus – to walk with him in study, prayer, and service to others, to engage in personal and family worship, as well as corporate worship and study as the Body of Christ.

Special Events Of Lent
“Shrove Tuesday” Pancake Supper. LMC’s annual Shrove Tuesday Supper will be held at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, February 16th. It symbolizes one last “splurge” before a season of “fasting.” We’ll share a delicious pancake supper together, play games, and prepare ourselves for the Lenten Season. This is a great “intergenerational” evening for all ages – a fun time of learning, sharing, and growing. There is no cost, but a free will offering will be taken to help cover costs. Sign up in the Narthex, and indicate if you can help set up or clean up.
Lenten Soup & Study. Wednesday evenings during Lent, we will complete our study of Proverbs, using Bill Hybel’s book, Making Life Work. We will begin with a light soup supper at 6:00 pm, with the study to follow. It is never to late to join us as we glean godly wisdom for our lives from this very relevant Old Testament book.
Fairfield Lenten Devotions. Each Wednesday at Noon at St. John Lutheran Church, Main Street, Fairfield, February 24 through March 24, the Fairfield Ministerium will hold a Lenten Devotions series on the Parables of Jesus. Devotions last approximately 30 minutes, with a community luncheon to follow. Churches of the Ministerium take turns hosting the lunch, and LMC is responsible for Wednesday, March 24th. Look for a sign up sheet in the Narthex. This is an opportunity for the Christian community to come together to acknowledge what God has done for us at the cross! There will be an Ash Wednesday observance at noon on February 17th at St. John, but this will not include lunch.
